Abstract: We present here the composition and spectroscopic studies on the Kamargaon (L6) chondrite using laser micro-Raman spectroscopic and powder X-ray diffraction techniques. Both powder XRD and micro-Raman studies reveal the unambiguous presence of high-pressure polymorphs of silica (stishovite), traces of ringwoodite and wadsleyite (high-pressure phase of olivine) in Kamargaon (L6) ordinary chondrite. The presence of wadsleyite along with ringwoodite and stishovite suggests a minimum post-shock pressure and temperature conditions of this meteorite should be 14–15 GPa and 1400–1500°C as the ringwoodite is known to coexist with wadsleyite at ~18 GPa and ~1800 K at the boundary of wadsleyite-ringwoodite transition.
