In this lecture Professor Tarikere talked about everyday religion: day to day religious practices of certain disadvantaged groups, building on Sufi aroodha avadhoota achala mystic traditions, as worlds apart from homogenizing ideologies of far right Hinduism and Islam. His talk isbased on his ongoing research into the literary traditions of Sufi saints in the Hyderabad Karnatak region and the Urs that continue to be celebrated in their names. |
